Santa Fe County Completes the Madrid Ballpark Grandstands Celebration on Memorial Day, May 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The town of Madrid is hosting a celebration for the completion of the Grandstand Renovation Project in the Oscar Huber Memorial Ballpark on Monday, May 25, 2015 (Memorial Day) from 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The celebration will include the inauguration of the Grandstand by Santa Fe County to the Madrid Landowners Association and the town of Madrid will unveil the new outfield fence, funded by the Madrid Cultural Projects and the Friends of the Madrid Ballpark.

“We are fortunate to have community members and County working together to preserve the history and treasures like the Madrid Oscar Huber Memorial Ballpark, Home of the Miners,” said Commissioner Robert A. Anaya.

Festivities will begin with music by the Dandelion Liberation Front followed by speakers from the Members of Santa Fe County government and local community leaders. Commissioner Robert A. Anaya will be serving as Master of Ceremony. The Memorial Day celebration will include a softball game between the East Mountain Riff Raff and the Madrid Miners beginning at 12 p.m. This year will mark the 33rd year for the annual softball challenge.

All are invited to attend. This day will mark a milestone for the historic ballpark and for the community at large.
