Santa Fe County DWI Planning Council Seeks Members
Santa Fe – January 11, 2011 – Santa Fe County is seeking citizens to serve on the Santa Fe County DWI Planning Council. The DWI Planning Council is a state mandated council charged to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners. The Council will work with the County Program to develop an annual funding application and other appropriate projects. Other projects include preparing a comprehensive plan that documents the extent of the County and City’s alcoholism problem, DWI resources and needs regarding DWI, alcoholism and alcohol or other drug abuse issues, including prevention, screening, assessment, treatment and alternative sentencing programs to be integrated into the statewide alcoholism services plan.
The Council currently meets nine times per year on the second Thursday of the month at 8:30am in the Health and Human Services Conference Room – 2052 S. Galisteo. The DWI Council does not meet in April, June or August.
Positions are available for representatives from all districts of the county and will preferably represent a broad spectrum of interests including but not limited to law enforcement, schools, Native American communities, and DWI Program and service providers.
