Santa Fe County Firewise Green Waste Amnesty

Santa Fe County Firewise Green Waste Amnesty

Santa Fe, NM – May 15, 2014 – Santa Fe County is offering a green waste amnesty as part of a Firewise initiative. The amnesty is valid until June 30, 2014 at the Jacona, Stanley and Eldorado Transfer Stations. This offer is available to all Santa Fe County residential solid waste permit holders (you will need to show your pass, but it will not be punched, if your load is only green waste).

“The program will allow residents with dried out vegetation on their property to dispose of it free of charge and create a defendable space around their home, helping to reduce the risk of fire,” said Santa Fe County Fire Chief, David Sperling.

Chief Sperling continued to explain that by conducting spring cleanup and maintaining the vegetation on your property you can greatly reduce the potential of fires in your community.

Please contact the Santa Fe County Solid Waste Section at 505-992-3068 with questions.
