Santa Fe County Hires Fire Chief

Santa Fe, NM – March 14, 2012- David Sperling has been hired as the new Santa Fe County Fire Chief. Sperling held the position of Santa Fe County Deputy Fire Chief/ County Fire Marshal since June 2007 and has been acting as the Santa Fe County interim Fire Chief for just over a year.

Chief Sperling has more than 15 years of experience at a Fire Chief level. A portion of that experience includes the position of City of Santa Fe Fire Chief from 2002 through 2006. Combined he has over 27 years experience in the area of Public Safety. In addition, Sperling has a unique qualification, which includes the ability to run a Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department that is comprised of both paid and volunteer fire fighters.

"Chief Sperling was selected based on his qualifications and experience in the fire department both with paid and volunteer fire fighters and he will continue to serve the Santa Fe County Fire Department very well," said Pablo Sedillo, Santa Fe County Public Safety Director.
