Santa Fe County Hires Public Works Director

Santa Fe, NM – December 16, 2011 – Adam Leigland has been hired as the new Santa Fe County Public Works director. Leigland has spent the last eight years in Italy and most recently was the Deputy Director of Public Works for Aviano Air Base in northern Italy. Prior to being the Deputy Director he was Chief Engineer for Aviano Air Base, along with numerous other Public Works, Planning and Engineering positions around the world.

Leigland has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master in City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in California, Arizona and his New Mexico license is pending, he is also a Certified City Planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners.

"I have strong ties to New Mexico and was very excited when the opportunity to work for Santa Fe County arose," said Leigland.

In addition to his extensive experience, education and licenses, Leigland has received multiple awards. Among his prestigious awards are the National Society of Professional Engineers, Europe Division, 2010 Federal Engineer of the Year and Society of American Military Engineers Tudor Award for Engineering Leadership, 2009.
