Santa Fe County Launches Online Burn Permits
Santa Fe County Launches Online Burn Permits
Santa Fe County Fire Prevention is pleased to announce residents can now get their burn permits online at www.santafecountynm.gov/fire/burn_permit. The new online tool allows residents to apply for a permit online and receive their permit immediately electronically. Residents will no longer need to drive to a fire station to get a permit, it can be done from your phone or computer.
“This new online open burning application process is progressive, sustainable, and more convenient for the residents of Santa Fe County,” said Santa Fe County Fire Marshal Jaome Blay.
Prior to each and every open burning, the Santa Fe County Regional Emergency Communications Center (RECC) must be notified at 505-428-3730 or 800-742-1144. Chimayo residents may choose to contact RECC at 505-351-4747 instead.
Open burning of rubbish or garbage containing paper or household waste products is prohibited.
Open Burning is allowed seven days a week from 6 a.m. - 3 p.m. (Weather Permitting). You must call Dispatch at 505-428-3710 before each burn to verify there are no restrictions and provide your burn permit number.
For those applicants who do not have internet access, the fire department will assist with their application at Pojoaque fire station 1 in the northern region, at fire prevention office in the western region, at Edgewood fire station 1 in the southern region, and at Hondo fire station 2 in the eastern region.
Please contact the Santa Fe County Fire Prevention Division with any questions 505-995-6523.
