Santa Fe County Maternal and Child Health Planning Council Seeking Members

Santa Fe, NM – January 13, 2012 - Santa Fe County is seeking members for the Maternal and Child Health Planning Council (MCH). Specifically, one member from Commission District 2 (Commission District represented by Commissioner Virginia Vigil), one member from Commission District 5 (Commission District represented by Commissioner Liz Stefanics) and at least one member to serve at large, which can be from any Commission District. Members are volunteers appointed by the Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners (BCC) to assist the county in engaging and eliciting community input. The council plans, coordinates and supports comprehensive and sustainable community-based maternal, child health programs and infrastructure for children from birth to three years and their families. Applicants should have expertise specifically for children under the age of three in the areas of health promotion, disease and behavioral risk prevention and healthcare provision.

A background check will be required for all applicants chosen to serve on the MCH.

The MCH generally holds meetings the Third Thursday of each month at noon.
