Santa Fe County Mobile Health Van Will Start Operating on Saturdays, Beginning April 9, 2011
Santa Fe- April 1, 2011 – The Santa Fe County Health and Human Services Division would like to announce the Santa Fe County Mobile Health Van will start operating on Saturdays. The first Saturday it will be in operation is April 9, 2011 at the Southside Library, 6599 Jaguar Drive
“Residents indicated that they would appreciate weekend services and in responding to the needs of our community, I applaud county staff for taking the initiative to recognize this need and make the changes necessary to operate on Saturdays,” said County Commissioner, Liz Stefanics.
The Mobile Health Van offers FREE Health Screenings and Referrals, including Blood Pressure Screening, Oxygen Assessment, Blood Glucose Screening, Body Mass Index (BMI) Testing, health information in English and Spanish, occasional Total Cholesterol Screening and Adult Influenza Vaccines when available. The van provides screenings and immunizations and does not diagnose or treat illnesses. Printed information on community health centers, dental providers, eye care providers, behavioral health providers, and the Santa Fe County Discount Drug Card are available on the van and the registered nurse can assess your problem and help you find a doctor or provider if needed.
The Van travels all over Santa Fe County, including City and County Senior Centers, City and County Housing Authority and Community Centers, supermarkets, pueblo community centers, food distribution sites, health fairs, the Santa Fe County Fair, libraries, and schools.
