Santa Fe County Opens New Senior Center
Santa Fe – April 16, 2007 – Santa Fe County Commissioner Jack Sullivan and Santa Fe County Community
Services Department would like to invite the public to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Ken and Patty Adam Senior Center on April 21, 2007, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, located at 16 Avenida Torreon, next to the Vista Grande Public Library in Eldorado.
On May 10, 2005, the Santa Fe County Commission dedicated the 285 Corridor Area Senior Center in honor
of Ken and Patty Adam for their role in bringing a senior center to the community. The 285 Corridor consists of the following communities: Alteza, Amansador, Apache Ridge, Belicia, Canada de Los Alamos, Canoncito, Cielo Colorado, Cielo Turquesa, Cimarron, Dos Griegos, East Ranch, Galisteo, Glorieta, Lamy, La Paz, Las Nubes, Los Caballos, Los Vaqueros, Ojo de Vaca, Old Road Ranch, Ranchitos de Santa Fe, Rancho Mirador, Rancho San Lucas, Rancho Verano, The Ridges, Rodriguez, San Sebastian, Stanley, Sun Ranch, Tierra de Casta, Tierra Colinas, Tierra Sabrosa, Valencia and Vista Sierra Bonita.
Patty Adam has been “the voice” for the senior community. She began the initiative to bring a senior center to Eldorado and surrounding communities to benefit all seniors. Patty has been instrumental in working with county, city and state government, not only to build a senior center, but also to provide “meals on wheels” and transportation for all seniors. Ken and Patty, despite their own health and safety, would travel on bad weather days to make sure other seniors would get the daily meals that they depend on, offer transportation, and check on their well being.
The Ken and Patty Adam Senior Center is approximately 4,600 square feet. The building is located at the
northeast corner of a tract of land that contains approximately 10.46 acres. The new facility is adjacent to the
Vista Grande Public Library. The facility consists of a large community room, a commercial kitchen for preparing meals and a small kitchenette for public functions. The design also includes a living room, game room, exercise room and arts and crafts for seniors to enjoy.
The celebration will take place on Saturday, April 21, at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at 16 Avenida Torreon in
Eldorado off Vista Grande Avenue next to the El Dorado Elementary School.
