Santa Fe County Residents Needed for Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC) Focus Group Members

Santa Fe, NM- June 28, 2011- The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is seeking individuals interested in participating in focus groups as part of the Santa Fe County Public Input Process for the Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC).  The focus group will be discussing specific concept decision points in relation to the SLDC.  The Commissioners will appoint two members from each district for each focus group and Santa Fe County staff will appoint two members for a total of 12 focus group members per concept decision point.  Several concept decision points have been identified through this process and can be reviewed through the SLDC Public Input database.   Focus groups will be set up for the following concept decision points:

  • Home based business
  • Green building standards
  • Open space and trails
  • Agriculture

Please submit your letter of interest by Friday, July 8, 2011.   We plan to have one or two public meetings per topic and would like the first focus groups to meet in mid to late July.  For each focus group, we would like individuals with interest, expertise or skill in the following:

Home Based Business

  • Owners of home based businesses
  • Representatives of communities or neighborhood associations
  • People who tried to open home based businesses but were impeded by regulations

Green Building Standards

  • Builders or representatives of building associations
  • Architects/Planners
  • Representatives of communities or neighborhood associations

Open Space and Trails

  • Members of open space or trails organizations
  • Current/former members of COLTPAC
  • “Property Rights” advocates
  • Representatives of  communities or neighborhood associations

Agriculture

  • Farmers/Ranchers
  • People who live near agricultural enterprises
  • Acequia and/or water supply experience
  • Representatives of  communities or neighborhood associations
