Santa Fe County Seeks an Applicant for the Water Policy Advisory Committee
The Santa Fe County Utilities Division is seeking an interested citizen to serve on the Water Policy Advisory Committee (WPAC). The current vacancy is designated for a community member served by and with experienced in a mutual domestic water consumer association (MDWCA) or small community water system within Santa Fe County.
The 12-member Water Policy Advisory Committee is tasked with advising the Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners on countywide water policy on a variety of topics including, Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC), the Aamodt Settlement, water rates, water and wastewater system acquisitions, County water and wastewater utility growth, back-up water supply, regionalization and regional water authorities, the County’s 40-year Water Plan, water conservation, and the conjunctive use of surface and groundwater. Committee members are responsible for attending bimonthly meetings, which are currently convened on the second Thursday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Public Works Conference Room, located at the Public Works Facility and may volunteer for smaller WPAC working groups.
Interested candidates are encouraged to attend the next WPAC meeting on July 14, 2016, to meet committee members and understand more about specific policy efforts.
