Santa Fe County to Launch New Prescription Drug Savings Program

Santa Fe, NM- September 7, 2011 –– The Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners (BCC) and Financial Marketing Concepts Inc., (FMC) will officially launch the new prescription drug discount program Coast2Coast Rx during the September 13, 2011 BCC meeting at approximately 2:30 p.m., all residents are invited to attend. At the time of the program launch FMC will provide information, answer questions and distribute Coast2Coast Rx cards.

The Coast2Coast Rx card is free and may be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in Santa Fe County and includes over 60,000 drugs in its formulary. Besides the discount on prescriptions, the card also provides up to 50 percent off of dental, vision and hearing needs and between 50 percent and 80 percent on discounts for lab and imaging tests.

The new card will allow all Santa Fe County residents regardless of income, age or health status to participate in the program and save on the cost of their medications. In 2011 this program has saved cardholders across the nation an average of 50 percent on the cost of prescription drugs. Pets and residents who live outside the County are also able to take part in the program.

"With healthcare costs on the rise, prescription drug discounts will help ease some of the financial burdens individuals and families are facing at a time when they need it the most," said County Commission Chair Virginia Vigil.

The Coast2Coast Rx card will be available for residents at most participating pharmacies, government offices, libraries, County facilities and on the Santa Fe County Mobile Health Van. There will also be a booth at Zozobra on September 8, 2011 and a booth on the Plaza during the fiesta weekend, September 9 through September 11 that will be distributing cards and information.
