Santa Fe County To Remove Millings at Church Parking Lot

Santa Fe –June 9, 2010 – Santa Fe County employees recently used road millings on the property of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in the Nambe community. This work was not authorized by the County or requested by the church.

In consultation with church leadership, the millings will be removed and the property will be restored to its previous condition. The removal will be done with no cost or expense to the church. The work is estimated to take approximately two days and is scheduled to begin June 15, 2010 and be completed June 16, 2010.

The work will involve three employees, a loader, a tandem and a grader, the estimated removal cost is $3,000. The millings will be hauled to a storage area in Arroyo Seco, and will be reused for other projects. After the work is completed, a representative from the church will inspect the work and insure it was performed to the church’s satisfaction.

The County has expressed to the church regret for any inconvenience or embarrassment this incident has created.
