The Santa Fe County Utilities Division extended the application deadline for an interested member of the general public from the northern Santa Fe County planning area (primarily consists of District 1) to serve on the Water Policy Advisory Committee (WPAC)to finish a three-year term beginning in January 2015 and ending in October 2016.  The position requires expertise in water planning.  Please visit www.santafecountynm.gov/county_commissionersto view a commission district map.

The Water Policy Advisory Committee consists of 12-members and is tasked with advising the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners on water policy countywide including: water policies in the Land Development Code, County water and wastewater utility growth, proposed aquifer storage and recharge activities, regionalization and regional water authorities, and updates to the 40-year Water Plan, and the Conjunctive Management Plan.  Committee members are responsible for attending bimonthly meetings, which are currently convened on the second Thursday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Public Works Conference Room, located at the Public Works Facility.   

Interested candidates are encouraged to attend the next WPAC meeting on Thursday, January 8at 5 p.m. to meet committee members and understand more about policy assignments.
