Santa Fe Film Office Invites Aspiring Pueblo and Indigenous Director-Writers to Apply for NYU Tisch Graduate Film Summer Workshop
Santa Fe, NM- The Santa Fe Film Office is excited to announce an exciting opportunity for aspiring Pueblo and Indigenous Director-Writers to participate in the tuition free NYU Tisch Graduate Film Summer Workshop. This initiative, in partnership with Santa Fe Community College and the Institute of American Indian Arts, is dedicated to empowering storytellers from diverse backgrounds and amplifying Indigenous voices in the film industry.

Workshop Overview:
This tuition free workshop, led by instructors from the Graduate Film program at New York University (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts will be an intensive three-week opportunity that will develop participant skills and voices in support of Indigenous storytelling. With a focus on directing, writing, and hands-on filmmaking experiences, students will engage in classroom sessions in the mornings, followed by practical directing exercises in assigned crews during the afternoons. Evenings will be dedicated to editing sessions and technical instruction in editing, cinematography, and sound.
In the final week, participants will direct their own micro short films while collaborating on fellow students' productions in various crew roles. Post-workshop support from NYU faculty and access to Santa Fe Community College's lab facilities will ensure the completion and screening of the films in the fall, reviewed by NYU faculty.
Eligibility and Application:
The workshop is open to aspiring filmmakers who are:
Pueblo or Indigenous descent.
18 years of age or older.
Enrolled in college, recent graduates, or on a break from college.
No prior film production experience required.
Passionate about telling Indigenous stories.
