Santuario de Chimayo Information

The journey to the Santuario de Chimayo has been walked by devoted pilgrims on Good Friday since the 1940’s. Every year the safety of the pilgrims has been in the hands of over thirty-seven agencies and non-government agencies. Every year two counties, two city, three tribes and state meet to strategize and implement orchestrating the public safety for this event

Martin Vigil Emergency Manager for Santa Fe County has been orchestrating the Easter Pilgrimage to Santuario de Chimayo for over thirteen years. “Whole communities of responders, non- government agencies and volunteers have come together to support this incredible event with one priority in mind and that is the safety of the Pilgrims”.
Attached are a list of “boots on the ground” and supporting standby. If you do decide to cover the event know that once you go into the main roadways it is very slow going, deadlines will be challenging and cell service questionable.
