SLDC Schedule for Zoning Map Adoption and Implementation Available Online

Santa Fe, NM – February 24, 2014 – Santa Fe County has released the Sustainable Land Development Code Proposed Implementation Schedule and the Zoning map implementation schedule. Both are available on the Santa Fe County website www.santafecountynm.gov/sldc.

The Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC) was approved by the Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners by Ordinance at the December 10, 2013 Board meeting and is available on the County website at www.santafecountynm.gov/SLDC. The Code provides a legal framework for implementing land development and growth management policies of the County’s Sustainable Growth Management Plan adopted in 2010.

The Sustainable Land Development Code will not become effective until the County Zoning Map is adopted.

The Public Process for the Zoning map adoption is anticipated to be initiated in early April after the Zoning Map Adoption Draft which is scheduled for release in late March. The noticing of the zoning map will include public notice and letters to property owners in the County. The County will also hold a Public Review Period for property owners to review the zoning map with County staff and provide comments and input on the zoning map. The County will hold at least two public hearings on the zoning map which are tentatively scheduled for May and June of this year.
