Sustainable Land Development Code Six Month Review

The Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC) was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on December 8, 2015, and went into effect on January 15, 2016.  The County is in the process of a 6 month review of the SLDC.  The 6 month review includes technical changes to the entire document, which addresses corrections and clarifications.  The review will also include adding the Mining and Resource Extraction Regulations into the Developments of Countywide Impact Section, Chapter 11 of the SLDC.

We welcome written feedback and comments from the public.  You may submit your comments via email to vlopez@santafecountynm.govor hand deliver to the Building and Development Services Division.  We will also be holding public meetings throughout the County to obtain public input.  These meeting will be held in August.  Exact times and locations are yet to be determined.

The timeline for adoption of the SLDC changes/updates is as follows:

  • June/July 2106- Staff identifies proposed technical changes and Mining and Resource  

                          Regulations to the SLDC.

  • July 2016-Staff presentation to BCC regarding proposed changes to the SLDC

                 (non-action item).

  • August 2016-Meetings in the various Growth Management Areas of the County, to obtain public input on proposed SLDC amendments.
  • September 2016- Staff request to the BCC for authorization to Publish Title and General

                              Summary for the SLDC amendments.

  •  September/October 2016- Proposed amendments presented to SF County Planning

                                              Commission for recommendation.

  • October/November 2016- Presentation(s)/Public Hearing(s) before the BCC for approval and

                                             adoption of SLDC amendments.
