Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC) Agriculture Focus Group Meeting

Santa Fe, NM – August 31, 2011 - The Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC) Agriculture Focus group will meet on Thursday, September 1 at 2 p.m. in the County Commission Chambers, 102 Grant Ave. The Agriculture Focus Group is a twelve member body that was appointed by the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) and includes representation from all areas of Santa Fe County. The goal of the Agriculture Focus group is to identify issues specific to agriculture that need to be covered in the SLDC. The Agriculture Focus Group will review the agriculture concept decision points related to agriculture, which includes a background on agriculture and information from the Sustainable Growth Management Plan, which was adopted in 2010.

Every meeting is open to the public and all interested residents are encouraged to attend. The meetings will also be broadcast live on the web at www.santafecountynm.gov. Each meeting will last approximately two hours, the first portion of the meeting will be designate for a discussion between the focus group members and the second portion of the meeting will allow for input from other community members.

The SLDC focus groups are a continuation of the ongoing public input meeting process and the purpose of the focus groups is to have a group of County residents with expertise and or interest in a particular topic related to the Code who can discuss identify and further define alternatives for implementation into the SLDC. All focus group outcomes will be presented to the BCC for review.
