TOURS ARE FULL - Santa Fe County Offering Three Petroglyph Hill Tours in 2014
The Santa Fe County Open Space and Trails Program will be offering three docent-led tours of Petroglyph Hill on the county-owned Thornton Ranch Open Space near the Village of Galisteo in 2014, please see dates and times below. Tours are by reservation only and will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Each of the tours will be limited to 20 people per tour and each tour will take approximately three hours.
The dates and times of tours are as follows:
- Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Saturday, August 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Saturday, October 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Participants will need to have the ability to hike a short distance and negotiate uneven, rocky terrain. Due to the undeveloped nature of the open space and associated hazards, participants will be asked to sign an Acknowledgement of Risk and Release of Liability.
The property is currently closed to the public due to the sensitivity of cultural resources. Santa Fe County is currently in the process of completing cultural resource investigations, management planning and master planning for the Thornton Ranch Open Space. The property will remain closed to the public until these studies are complete and site improvements have been made.
