Trail at San Isidro Park Will Be Closed Intermittently For Construction

Santa Fe, NM – December 18, 2012 - Beginning immediately, the trail at San Isidro Park along the Santa Fe River will be closed intermittently during construction of river restoration. The trail is located between San Ysidro Crossing and County Road 62 in Agua Fria Village.

The trail will remain open to the public as often as safely possible. When construction activities are occurring on or near the trail, the trail will be closed to the public. Every effort will be made to maintain a continuous, open trail on weekends and holidays. Santa Fe County Open Space and Trails Program asks the public to please bear with them as they complete this important project for the community.

Santa Fe County Open Space and Trails Program has contracted with Meridian Construction of Albuquerque, NM for this phase of the project. Construction is expected to last approximately six months.

The project consists of river restoration on the Santa Fe River to stabilize the river channel below San Ysidro Crossing and to address off-site drainage issues. Work will include landscaping and re-vegetation.

This project is a segment of the Santa Fe River Greenway. Ultimately, the Greenway will provide a trail connection along the Santa Fe River from the City limits to the wastewater treatment plant. The Greenway project also includes extensive river restoration efforts to stabilize the banks, reduce erosion and restore the Santa Fe River to a more natural environment.
