Upcoming Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC) Focus Group Meetings


Santa Fe, NM – June 7, 2011 – Santa Fe County is hosting two additional Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC) Focus Group meetings to discuss Home Based Businesses. The first meeting is Thursday, June 9 at 2 p.m. in the County Commission Chambers, 102 Grant Ave. and the second meeting is Monday, June 13 at 4 p.m. in the County Commission Chambers, 102 Grant Ave.

The public input focus group meetings will be webcast live at www.santafecountynm.gov and residents will have the ability to call in or email during the meeting to voice concerns, provide input and offer recommendations.

“The success of the SLDC depends on a strong public input process and we feel this process provides unprecedented opportunities for public input,” said David Gold, SLDC Coordinator.

There is also a Public Input Database that residents can register to use, which allows input on any issue related to the Code and the ability to have a public forum. To access the public database residents can visit www.santafecountynm.gov and click on Sustainable Land Development Code under Hot Topics. You can also find instructional videos regarding the public input database, a current Home Based Business Analysis and other important documents related to the SLDC on this webpage.

The Board of County Commissioners (BCC )will give staff direction for the SLDC based on recent public input at the BCC Code update meeting June 21 at 3 p.m.

Santa Fe County is in the process of creating a new land development code known as the Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC). The SLDC is the legal implementing device of the recently adopted Sustainable Growth Management Plan (SGMP) and contains detailed regulations for the development of land within the County.
