Updated (4/24/2015) - Santa Fe County Road 42 (Camino Los Abuelos) Emergency Road Closure
(Updated information in bold font)
The Santa Fe County Public Works Department began emergency road reconstruction efforts to restore a portion of Santa Fe County Road 42. The affected portion of road is approximately 5.1 miles east of NM 14. In order to accommodate this road reconstruction in a safe manner, it was necessary to close this section of Santa Fe County Road 42 (Camino Los Abuelos) to vehicular traffic. The closure is effective immediately and is scheduled to last until Thursday, April 30, 2015 (weather permitting). This section of road will be completely closed for the duration of the project. The asphalt, base, and subgrade have been removed to a depth of three ft. at this time (attached is a picture of the construction zone from yesterday).
During the course of this reconstruction the Santa Fe County Public Works Department will ensure that all properties in the area of construction will be accessible at all times. Residents west of this construction area will need to utilize NM 14 for access and residents east of this construction area will need to utilize NM 41.
Residents will have access to the San Marcos solid waste collection center from NM 14 only. Residents from NM 41, Galisteo area, will need to use the Eldorado solid waste collection center.
Motorists and bicyclists are urged to seek an alternate route, expect a full detour and allow additional time to negotiate this work zone.
If additional information is necessary regarding this road work, please contact Diego Gomez, the Santa Fe County Roads Maintenance Manager at (505) 992-3016.
Thank you in advance for your continued patience, cooperation and use of caution in work zones at all times.
