Vista Grande Library Expansion Ground Breaking Ceremony
Santa Fe, NM - April 24, 2013 - Santa Fe County Commissioner Liz Stefanics, Santa Fe County Public Works Department and The Vista Grande Public Library would like to invite residents to a Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Building Expansion of the Vista Grande Public Library on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 4 p.m. at the Vista Grande Library, 14 Avenida Torreon.
"Santa Fe County and the Vista Grande Public Library Board of Directors have been working together to see this project come to fruition and are thrilled that the expansion is taking place, it will be a great benefit to the community," said Commissioner Liz Stefanics.
Santa Fe County appropriated funding for the building expansion from the Gross Receipts Tax-funded Capital Projects that was initiated in 2012. The project consists of a 4,000 sq. ft. expansion along with site improvements.
This building addition will accommodate expanding the library collections, book shelf stacks, reference and periodical reading area as well as providing additional computer stations. Also included in the expansion is a new processing workroom, new office, three new tutoring/small meeting cubicles, a new meeting room (with a separate building entrance) that will allow the use of the meeting room for community meetings as well as for showings for the popular “Movie Night” and children’s programs. Support spaces in the expansion include a kitchenette, store room, restroom data and janitor closets.
The Vista Grande Public Library, which opened in 2001, is a non-profit regional library serving all of southeast Santa Fe County.
