Volunteers Wanted to Expand Adult and Youth Correction Programs

Santa Fe, NM – March 20, 2013 – The Santa Fe County Adult and Youth Correction Facilities are looking to expand current programs. Santa Fe County offers a variety of programs to inmates through volunteers and is looking to expand the programs offered.

“Santa Fe County is such a vibrant, artistic, creative community and we want to bring that into the facility by offering new programs to inmates,” said Santa Fe County Public Safety Director Pablo Sedillo III. He continued, “ Volunteers are the core of our programming, without them we would not be able to offer the programs that we do.”

Santa Fe County would like to expand art programs, music programs/lessons, religious programs, self awareness programs and add things like yoga classes, motivational sessions, tutoring, and any other type of programming that would benefit inmates.

To volunteer with either Detention Facility, a Consent For Release of Information form must be filled out. This authorizes the facility to conduct a background check on the applicant. Once an application is cleared individuals are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation. Once the Volunteer Orientation is complete, then the Program Manager and the volunteer will schedule dates, times and curriculum for attendance.
