Voting for the Santa Fe Public School Board and the Santa Fe Community College Board Elections, Feb. 1, 2011

SANTA FE COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICE

Voting for the Santa Fe Public School Board and the Santa Fe Community College Board Elections, Feb. 1, 2011

Santa Fe – January 3, 2011- For the first time, the SF Public School Board and SF Community College Board Elections are being held on the same day, February 1, 2011, rather than separately and a month apart, as has been the case in the past. The combined election will save taxpayers money as it reduces the number of small elections.

Voting for the two elections on Election Day will be a little different. Because there is only one candidate for the Community College Board, state law requires that the County Clerk’s Office be the sole polling place for that election.

You can avoid going to two different polling places (your polling place for the School Board election and the County Clerk’s Office for the Community College election) on Election Day by requesting Absentee Ballots or by voting early at the County Clerk’s Office. You can request Absentee Ballots between now and January 28, 2011. You can vote early Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM -5:00 PM, beginning January 7 and ending January 28. Absentee Ballots must be returned to the County Clerk’s Office by 7:00 PM on February 1.

On Election Day (February 1, 2011), the polls (both the local polling places, where you vote for School Board members, and the County Clerk’s Office, where you vote for Community College Board member) will be open from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
