Santa Fe, NM – February 8, 2012- The Santa Fe County DWI Program, Santa Fe County Fire Prevention Division and Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) will be hosting a Walk Like MADD event on March 3, 2012 at 10 a.m. Walk Like MADD is a 5K, non-competitive walk to allow corporations and individuals to team up with MADD in "keeping our communities safe." The event will start and finish at Buffalo Thunder Resort.
All money raised by this event will be used to host a Post Prom Party for the Pojoaque High School 2012 Senior Prom.
If you would like to pre-register for the event you can download a form at www.santafecountynm.gov/community_services/madd.Forms can also be picked up a from the Santa Fe County DWI Office located at 2052 Galisteo Street or the Santa Fe County Fire Prevention Division located at 4001 Office Court, Bldg. 900, Suite 906. Early Registration is $5 for youth/students
and $10 for adults.
Early registration forms can be submitted in person at the DWI or Santa Fe County Fire Prevention Division Offices by close of business, February 27, 2012. There will be same day registration at Buffalo Thunder Resort from at 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
"The Walk Like MADD event is an opportunity for the community to get together and make a difference and a time for residents of Santa Fe County and the Pojoaque Valley to stand up and say drinking and driving is not acceptable and will not be tolerated, " said Frank Margourilos, Santa Fe County Senior Certified, DWI Prevention Specialist.
Founded by a mother whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver, MADD is the nation's largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking. MADD has helped nearly 300,000 lives be saved since it first began working to make our communities and roadways safer. MADD also supports drunk driving victims and survivors at no charge, serving one person every nine minutes.
