Deputies responded to the address in reference to an unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. The victim advised that he was warming up his pickup truck when an unknown suspect entered his property and took his vehicle. The victim said he had a Stihl leaf blower inside the vehicle. The vehicle was later located on Sunrise Road and released to the victim. The leaf blower was not located. There is no suspect information at this time.

Case#2024000344/Agg DWI, Agg Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer, and Roadways Laned for Traffic/01-19-24

Location: Camino Del Rincon and Calle Estrella, Santa Fe County, NM

Arrested: Nicholas Martinez, 30YOM, Santa Fe, NM

Deputies were dispatched to assist Pojoaque Tribal Police in reference to a crash and possible DWI. Upon arrival, it was learned the above-listed subject was contacted by tribal police but evaded in his vehicle. After a short pursuit, which led to the subject crashing, tribal police were able to detain the subject and smelled a heavy odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his expelled breath. The subject was transported to the hospital due to the crash and was later released. The subject refused any chemical testing. Due to the subject's signs of impairment, police team concept, and further investigation, deputies placed the subject under arrest, transported, and booked accordingly without injury.

Arrested: Jesus Varela-Salais, 23 YOA male, Santa Fe

Deputies observed a vehicle with no visible license plate displayed on the vehicle. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver. The driver was found to have a revoked driver’s license due to a previous DWI. The driver was arrested and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility.

Arrested: Jamie Reese, 47 YOA female, Taos

Deputies were dispatched to assist Pojoaque Police on a traffic stop with a non-Native American driver. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted the driver. Deputies observed signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility.


Case #2024000331 Possession of a deadly weapon by an inmate

Arrested: Michael Maestas, 40 YOA male, Las Vegas NM

Deputies were dispatched to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility (ADF) in reference to an inmate located with a homemade weapon in the facility. ADF Guards located the weapon upon conducting a cell change. The cell was occupied by the suspect only. The suspect was rebooked into ADF accordingly.

Deputies were dispatched in reference to criminal trespass. Upon arrival, deputies located an individual inside a bank-owned home. Deputies placed the above subject under arrest, transported, and booked her accordingly without incident. The subject had previously been advised to stay off the property. 


Case #2024000325 / Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member - 1/17/2024

Deputies were dispatched to Presbyterian Hospital due to a victim with a stab wound. Victim advised he had been stabbed by his son. An arrest warrant was drafted for the suspect, and he was later apprehended at the residence. 


Case#2024000317/Warrant Arrest/1-16-24

Arrestee: Antonio Gallegos 48YOM

Deputies were dispatched to a report of a rollover crash. Upon contact with the driver, Mr. Gallegos, it was discovered that he had a valid warrant for his arrest. Mr. Gallegos was placed under arrest and would later be transported to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center for incarceration.
