Victim reported her credit card was either lost or stolen and since then, there have been multiple unauthorized transactions at two different gas stations. Total fraudulent charges totaled $330.85. No suspects or witnesses are known at this time.

Three vehicles parked at the Zia Methodist Church were burglarized by force between 6:30pm and 7:45pm, this date. Purses containing jewelry and credit cards were stolen from inside the vehicles. No suspects or witnesses are known at this time.

Suspect: 43 year old male, Santa Fe, NM
On 12/12/07, a welfare check was conducted on a 16 year old female at the request of CYFD. Contact was made with the female who stated she had been beaten by her father. She did have visible bruising to her right eye, which she said was a result of the physical altercation. She was taken into protective custody at that point and turned over to CYFD. The father was not available at the time of report for interview. Criminal Investigations was notified and will be following up with this case.

Victim: 45 YR OLD FEMALE
The Sheriff's Dept is investigating the death of a 45 yr old female who was found dead in a rented room. Victim was terminally ill. No signs of foul play. Investigation continues.

Suspect: Ronnie Duran, age 28, Santa Fe, NM
Charged: Possession of a controlled substance to wit: Cocaine
On 12/11/07 at about 2300 hours the above named suspect was found to have in his possession 4 rock substances which may possibly be cocaine. The suspect was witnessed by a corrections officer holding the item then throwing it to the floor and covering it with a bed mattress. The substance was field tested with positive results for cocaine. The suspect was arrested and booked accordingly.

Case#0207009660 Abuse of a Child 12/10/07

Location of Incident: 2600 Block of Birch St. SFNM
Victim: 13 year old female (stepdaughter)
Arrested: Ramon Ortiz DOB: 01/25/1975 (stepfather)
The above case was initiated as a result of allegations against the defendant the stepfather of a thirteen year old stating thet she was physically assaulted and whipped with an electrical cord. The matter apparently escalatewd to physical abuse when the child and step father got into an argument because she was talking to her real father in Mexico. Subsequent investigation revealed sufficient evidence to charge the above with two Counts of Abuse or abandoment of a child resulting in injury. Ramon Ortiz was taken into custody without incident, Bond is pendning arraignment.
