Victim: 92 yoa female

Deputies responded to a residence to investigate the death of a 92 yoa female. The victim was suffering from numerous medical conditions and a DNR (Do Not Recusitate) order was in effect but the victim was found to have died in her bed. There was no evidence of criminal activity and the cause of death appears to have been of natural causes. The medical investigator also conducted an investigation into this case.

Stolen: $1,700.00 in case

The victim reported that on 1-25-08 between the hours of 8:15 AM and 6:37 PM, unknown suspect(s) forced open the rear door to the residence and gained entry. The suspect(s) then stole $1,700.00 in cash from inside the residence.

Stolen: $780.00 in cash

The victim reported that upon leaving his business for the evening, he was attacked by two men that were waiting for him to exit the business. One male suspect struck the victim in the arm with a large stick while the second suspect grabbed the victim's briefcase and fled on foot. The briefcase that was stolen contained approximately $780.00 in cash.

Victim reported that sometime between Jan. 9, 2008 and Jan. 24, 2008 his unsecured 1991 Ford F-150 pick-up was unlawfully entered and the stereo, Sirus Satellite system and a pair of binoculars were stolen.  No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Location of arrest:  State Road 14 & Balle Vista Boulevard, Santa Fe, NM

Suspect:  Barbara Romero, age 36, Santa Fe, NM

Charged:  Aggravated DWI, Driving on roadways laned for traffic, License to be carried, Open container

On 1/26/08 at 0037 hours suspect was travelling northbound on SR 14 at Valle Vista Blvd, failed to maintain her lane by crossing over the center divide line once.  Suspect prior to the traffic stop was also observed weaving from the right edge line to the center divide line several times.  Suspect showed signs of impairment.  Ahe also admitted to consuming one beer earlier in the evening.  Suspect was found in possession of an open container of Budweiser beer.  Suspect was given SFST's and was found to be impaired and was arrested.  Suspect gave a breath test in which the results were .13, .16, .15.  She also did not provide her driver's license.  She was then transported and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.

Suspect:  Gabriel Armendariz, age 26, Tesuque, NM

Charged:  Battery on a peace officer (2 Counts)

 Suspect was incarcerated at the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.  Victims are Detention Officers at the Adult Detention Center.  Suspect refused to go into his jail cell at lock down.  After a brief scuffle to get suspect into cell, suspect pushed victim into a bunk bed and then into the wall.  Suspect proceeded to push 2nd victim and throw him onto the toilet and then got on top of him holding him down.  Detention staff was able to restrain suspect and lock him in cell.  Suspect was charged accordingly and rebooked on charges.

Arrested: Joseph Perea, 55 yoa Santa Fe, NM

Charges: Felony DWI, Driving on Suspended/Revoked Driver's License, Driving on Roadways Laned For Traffic

The above named defendant was stopped on County Road 56 for failing to maintain his lane of travel. Open containers of alcoholic beverages were located inside the vehicle. The defendant was tested and subsequently arrested on said charges. His breath alcohol content tested at .11 and .11 respectively.


Case#:  0208000659/ Resisting,Evading of Obstructing an Officer, Concealing Identity, Service of Documents/ Date:  01/24/08

Suspect:  David Ibarra, age 25, Santa Fe, NM

Charged:  Resisting,Evading, or Obstructing an officer, Concealing Identity, Service of warrants

On 1/24/08 at 2240 hours, a traffic stop was attempted on a vehicle in which above suspect was a passenger.  Vehicle was observed travelling westbound on Rufina Street and failed to yield at the intersection of Jemez Road.  The vehicle stopped at Morning Drive where the driver fled on foot.  The above suspect was apprehended and refused to give his identity and was later found to be David Ibarra.  Suspect had 2 active warrants and was transported and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.


Case #:  0208000657/ Possession of a controlled substance to wit:  Cocaine/ Date:  01/24/08

Location of arrest:  US84/285 & Viarrial Street, Santa Fe, NM (Pojoaque)

Suspect:  Kenneth Trujillo, age 43, Santa Fe, NM

Charged:  Possession of a controlled substance to wit:  Cocaine, Tampering with evidence, Aggravated DWI, Possession of Drug paraphernalia, Driving while license is suspended/revoked, Accident involving death or personal injury, Vehicle turning left at intersection, No insurance, Bench warrant charging failure to attend DWI school.

On 1/24/08 at 1952 hours, suspect while travelling southbound on US84/285 decided to turn left onto Viarrial Street, pulling into the path of victim's vehicle and caused a crash.  Suspect directly after the crash fled the scene in his vehicle.  After suspect was located he was found in possession of a small amount of a white powdery substance and was trying to destroy it.  Suspect had in his possession a metal cook spoon which was in his wallet.  A check through DMV revealed that suspect's driver's license was revoked.  Suspect could not produce proof of financial responsibility.  A field test was done on the white powdery substance which tested positive for cocaine.  Suspect showed signs of impairment:  bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and an odor of an intoxicating liquor on his breath.  Suspect submitted to a breath test which his results were .08, .08.  He was also arrested on an active warrant out of Magistrate Court for failure to attend DWI school.  He was then transported and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
