Arrested: Braulio Rodriguez (39 YOM)
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration. Contact was made with the subject and NCIC check was conducted. The subject was found to have a revoked driver’s license with the arrest clause. The subject was booked without incident.
Case #2023007329 Unattended Death

Location: Cedar Court, Edgewood
Decedent: 70 YOA male, Edgewood
Deputies responded to the location in reference to a welfare check. Upon arrival deputies observed the male in the house, but were unable to get a response. Deputies forced entry into the residence and observed the male deceased. The Office of the Medical Investigator was contacted and responded to the scene. No signs of foul play were observed.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person. On scene was Subject removning wood from the property. While being detained, subject was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Subject was arrested and booked into SF ADC with out incident.

Decedent: 80 YOA male, Santa Fe
Deputies were dispatched to a male, not conscious with unknown breathing. Deputies and medics arrived on scene and attempted life saving measures. Medics were unsuccessful in reviving the male. The Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) was called to the scene to complete an investigation. Deputies and OMI located no signs of foul play.

Arrested: Michael Velarde, 63 YOA male, Santa Fe
Deputies were dispatched to a report of a reckless driver. Deputies located the vehicle and contacted the driver. Deputies observed signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility.

Case#2023007299 Unattended Death 12-17-23

Location: Haozous Road (Santa Fe)
Deceased: 77 yoa female
Deputies responded to the residence when the deceased's son found the female unresponsive. Investigation revealed the deceased had several serious medical conditions and the death appeared natural. There were no signs of foul play located at the scene. OMI arrived and took custody of the deceased.
Case #2023007293 / Aggravated Battery - 12/16/2023

Victim: 42 YOF
Deputies were dispatched to the address in reference to an aggravated battery. Investigation revealed an unknown suspect walked up to the vehicle with 3 individuals inside, and was trying to take the vehicle. The victim did not hand over the keys, which made the suspect frustrated, and resulted in the victim being hit in the head with a firearm. Deputies searched the area for the suspect and were unable to locate him.

Deputies responded to a call for service, in reference to a wanted person. Deputies located the subject and placed him in custody without incident. The subject had three active warrants, one of which was signed on today's date.

Suspect: Nick Vargas 33 YOM
Deputies were dispatched to a residence in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon contact with the Victim, she advised Mr. Vargas hit her on the side of her head and stole her phone. Nearby witnesses corroberated the Victim's statement. Mr. Vargas fled the scene after the battery. An arrest warrant will be requested for Mr. Vargas's arrest.
