Agua Fria and San Ysidro Intersection To Close For Road Improvements Beginning July 6

Beginning July 6, about 700 feet of the road around the Agua Fria / San Ysidro intersection will be closed until approximately the first week of September. Santa Fe County will begin a road improvement project along Aqua Fria Road, approximately 8,000 feet of length, within the Aqua Fria / San Ysidro intersection, in mid-July. Before improvements can begin, an archaeological excavation, conducted as required by the State's Cultural Properties Act, will begin on July 6. The project is under the review of the State of New Mexico, Department of Cultural Affairs, Historic Preservation Division. This archaeological excavation will take place along a 700 foot stretch of the road around the Aqua Fria / San Ysidro intersection.

Because of this excavation, this section of Aqua Fria Road will be closed to vehicular traffic for approximately 45 working days. The alternate route around the archaeological excavation is on the attached map. The County will hold a public meeting to discuss the project +during the week of July 15. The location and time of the meeting will be announced next week. For more information, call 992.3026.
